Inspi(red) Lips

The past few weeks I have made the effort to try new things, one being red lipstick. I used to despise the way it looked on people because of its unnatural color on the lips. But my perspective has changed as I now see it as a splash of color to bring attention to the face.

Red lipstick is a timeless part of fashion that will never go out of style
from left to right: Tom Ford Jasmine Rouge $48, Covergirl flipstick in Cheeky $9, D&G Attractive Monica $32, Bobbi Brown Red Carpet $24, Chanel Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Color in Pirate $34, MAC Insanely It $16, Clinique Chubby Stick $16, Sephora Always Red $12. Found here
Dolce & Gabbana Lipstick in Attractive Monica, $32

It especially makes eye colors like blue and green really stick out

Although my new love for the bold look that Red creates, I will always love nude lipstick. It is perfect for casual days or elegant events and shows a more youthful side of you. Also it is perfect any time of year.

Eat Drink and Be Merry #2

In celebration of one of my best friend Lauren's birthday, (although everyone calls her almy) she hosted a luncheon at The Backstreet Cafe. I had never been there before, but when seeing that the restaurant was on S. Sheperd I knew it had to be amazing. Not only was the restaurant fabulous, but the luncheon was the perfect way to start summer on the right foot...or food

The outdoor seating is located in a courtyard with plenty of shade as you can see

The restaurant itself is in a cozy 30's style home. One of the reasons I enjoyed it so much was the fact that is was in a house, I loved how we had the whole upstairs to ourselves.
We were given a set lunch menu so I opted for the Pecan crusted chicken, partly because it came with mashed potatoes :) The restaurant was fabulous, I definitely recommend it for any Houstonians in the mood for a brunch type meal, or even dinner. Despite the stress of trying to get there and getting lost about 4 times.

The whole bunch, with lauren  sitting in the very middle of the left row. This happened to be the only picture I was tagged in on facebook because I had to leave the party early so I wasn't a part of the numerous instagram pictures documenting the whole event.

So... Happy Birthday Almy! So glad I could help you celebrate, even though your     brithday isn't for a month....
(and no this picture is from a while ago, sadly I didn't get a picture with the birthday girl)

Eat Drink and Be Merry

The perfect places to eat in Houston for any category

 A Casual Cafe: Cafe Brasil

       2604 Dunlavy

Brasil's exhibits a super relaxed and home-like aura for their customers, as well as an artsy and hipster feel to it.  The outdoor dining in the back is a courtyard and is also the backyard to the bookstore next door.
Its also open till 1 AM, which is definitely rare. The ambience is great and on friday nights they set up a movie on the patio, as well as a live band on other nights.

Their menu includes soups, salads, sandwiches tea, coffee and pastries. Some menu items are exotic such as the Tutto Crudo (flatbread brushed with garlic oil and baked with goat cheese topped with mozzerela, olives, arugula and parsley) and then they have your typical Caesar salad as well.

Brasil's will always be my go-to place for a cafe, despite the long drive to Montrose. When choosing Restaurants, I always opt for a local, non-chain Restaurant which can be pretty tricky to find in Houston. Every week I will continue posting my favorite  go-to places to eat in Houston for every category of eatery that I can think of. Happy Eating!

Laugh Out Loud

I think my friends would all agree that humor is a big part of who I am. It's quite rare for me to not find some sort of humor in a situation (unless someone died because then I would just be a jerk). But anyways, a good laugh is always something I am in search of. Throughout highschool my poor classmates had to endure my attempt of being funny through dirty pickup lines (sorry!) and constantly quoting south park and How I Met Your Mother. As finals quickly approach, It's important for me to find little things to entertain myself in order to not become a complete ball of stress.

Friday night our school had a Fine Arts Banquet for the school art department. Anyone in a fine art was able to participate in the festivities which included dinner and dancing. Two of my good friends Melissa and Katie were unfortunately trapped in the hotel elevator on their way to the banquet for an hour and a half along with 13 other people. Luckily they were okay so we all had a good laugh about it by the end of the night after the two had recovered from their traumatic experience.

This picture was taken after the first ten minutes. At the time they found the situation to be         hilarious and a cause for celebration

After about an hour as they realized they had no cell service AND no air conditiong,
things weren't quite so funny. Except for some reason Kelsey still has a smile on her face...Odd

This pic of Katie was taken in the final moments of their imprisonment. She looks like she's about ready to give up, Such a trooper. Although she isn't laughing at all, I definitely was when I saw this

One of my favorite Youtube Videos. Especially because my mom is a substitute teacher.

Survivor: Cook Island

Probably one of the most racist things I have ever seen, but I can't help but laugh

My favorite character from my favorite TV show, How I Met Your Mother

Under the Sea

Seafoam green has slowly made its way to the top as one of my favorite colors. Not to be confused with turquiose, seafoam is a little softer with a little more blue. Although it's under the category as green, I don't think that seafoam green gets enough credit for being as feminine as colors like peach and lavender. But as summer quickly approaches, seafoam will be part of my wardrobe without a doubt

Spotlight on Music

My taste in music tends to be really eccentric. Sometimes I'm in the mood for rap and literally 2 songs later I will be craving Jack Johnson. I even went through a 50's and 60's music phase about a month where I played nothing but beach boys and dorky sock hop music in my car. This past week my choice of music has been made up of chill, mellow and laidback music.

Here are a few of my favorites that have been kept on repeat.

Upside Down by Jack Johnson

Blood by Middle East

Casimir Pulaski Day by Sufjan Stevens

Chicago by Sufjan Stevens my favorite!

Young Blood by Naked and Famous

The General by Dispatch

Heart of Life by John Mayer

Animal by Miike Snow

Somewhere only We Know by Keane

Love to Hate.

the things I love to hate
-oatmeal cookies that decievingly look like chocolate chip
-teachers that don't show up to tutorials (cough cough coach Johnson)
-when the humidity ruins my hair
-people who drive too slow
-dress codes (how are my nike shorts considered "too sensual")
-those fake oreos called "tuxedos"
-people who treat Facebook like twitter
-people who instagram pics of themselves that clearly aren't selfies for #ss
-sequels to movies that were awful in the first place
-the couples in the hallways with excessive PDA
